Place Value and Seed Story Ideas

This past week during math, students worked on making and reading a 7 digit number (to the millions). Students wrote   values of digits , named the place value house the digit lived in, wrote the word form and the expanded form. Next week, we will compare numbers and then round numbers.

One of the activities we are doing during Writer's Workshop is thinking of small seed moments that we can turn into a personal narrative story. Students listed to a mentor text that helped facilitate what small moments/seeds are. The boys and girls were then asked to come up with their own small moment seeds and fill in a graphic organizer. Later, students will choose one of their small moment seeds to be the topic of their personal narrative.
